A little about me

I grew up in Bar Harbor, Maine—a place that will always feel like home. While many may think of Bar Harbor as a glamorous tourist destination, my family wasn’t part of that crowd. My parents owned and operated restaurants on Main Street, and I spent my childhood in the midst of it all. We weren’t the big names like Campbell’s Soup (though they were our neighbors!), but they were the ones behind the scenes, working hard every day.

After attending school in Bangor, I continued my education at the University of Maine in Orono. I guess you could say I’m a Mainer through and through.

Creativity was always encouraged in my family. My parents, both chefs and entrepreneurs, showed me early on the value of creating with passion and purpose. When I was about 13, my mom built a darkroom in the basement for my brother and me to explore. She was always the one behind the camera, and I think it’s where my love for photography truly began. Her Minolta SRT-201 now sits proudly on a shelf in my office—a constant reminder of her influence. If you’ve ever had the pleasure of hearing my dad tell a story, you’d recognize that I’m a mix of both of them: the creative eye of my mom, and the storytelling spirit of my dad.

I always knew I wanted to pursue photography, but like many, I was advised to consider a more “practical” career path. So after college, I worked as a web designer and front-end developer for eight years, but I always kept my camera close by.

After my mom passed away in 2006, I moved to Boston for a fresh start and to explore a new pace of life. It was my first experience working in a corporate environment, but no matter what I was doing, I always found my way back to my camera. In 2009, I made the leap to full-time photography, and I’ve never looked back. In 2020, after falling in love with the outdoors when one of my couples wanted to do their engagement photos on top of a mountain, I officially said goodbye to the city life and moved to the White Mountains of New Hampshire. There is truly nothing I love more than capturing moments and telling stories through my lens.

When I am not capturing love stories, I enjoy outdoor activities in this order of fondness: Backcountry skiing, trail running, hiking, climbing, fishing, and anything with my dog.

The highest compliment I can receive at a wedding is when a guest tells me they can see how much I love what I do. That passion is what drives me. When you’re doing what you love, everything else falls into place.
