Sarah & Craig were married at the beeuuutiful Bliss Ridge in the Mad River Valley of Vermont. It rained the entire morning of their wedding and I saw a moose (pictured below) on the way from my Airbnb in Northfield to Bliss Ridge! I had just finished hiking the Long Trail and thought how hilarious that I did not see a single moose for 300 miles of wilderness, but I saw one on my way to work! The sun, of course, came out just before the ceremony and exposed the beautiful ridge line behind the ceremony site. Once the ceremony was over, however, it began to monsoon AGAIN. I don’t think Sarah & Craig even had a rain plan, they were just so happy to be in this beautiful place and it all worked out so perfectly. Thank you for having me be a part of your day! Enjoy!
Kirsten & Tim
It’s been months since I’ve shared an engagement session on my blog! It’s not because I have stopped doing them, ha ha. Quite the opposite. I require every single one of my wedding couples to do an engagement session with me. It being my busiest time of year, wedding work definitely takes first priority, though. I couldn’t not share this one, though. Kirsten & Tim are getting married in a few weeks right here in Somerville. A lot of my couples like to hike and of course I am always open to doing our engagement session together in the mountains. I pitched Carter Dome to these two, knowing their dog’s name is Tuckerman, so maybe they’d be down? The first time I had gone up Carter Dome, I thought that I had to photograph someone up there. It’s such a great spot with a clearing, surrounded by short trees. It’s no joke of a hike, climbing something like 3000′ in .8 miles. That’s a joke, by the way! But, it’s steeeeep. Kirsten & Tim were 100% into it and I love that. They met me up at Carter Notch Hut, and we chilled out a bit to let the sweat dry out and grab a snack before heading out into the Ramparts, a boulder field located just in front of the hut. How on earth Tuckerman made it out there, I have no idea. I try not to think about it! There are crevices in between boulders that go who knows how far down, but he too busy having the best day a dog could ask for to care too much about those holes.
I also have to mention that the Mt. Washington Observatory reported wind gusts of 91mph on this day. We were certainly feeling it!
Thanks for indulging me, guys! See you in a few weeks! <3
Kara & Greg
Kara & Greg were married earlier this year at the MIT Chapel with a reception following at Catalyst Restaurant in Cambridge. Kara & Greg had scheduled a solid 2 hours for us to roam around the city for portraits, and we had so much fun Uber-ing around both Boston and Cambridge on this rainy day before their ceremony! It had been years since I’d photographed a wedding at the MIT Chapel, I just love the inside! Thank you for including me in your day, guys!
Congratulations Kara & Greg!
Emma + Nick
Emma + Nick were married last month at Emma’s mother’s home in Westport, MA. The story of how they came into my life is actually really funny, so I thought I would share it! Back in 2008 (thereabouts) when I was first starting my business, and had never actually photographed a person, I was still working as a web developer at a really cool company here in Boston. One of my co-workers agreed to let me practice on her, and she had also roped her roommate with her brand new boyfriend into it too. That roommate and boyfriend are Emma + Nick! The best part about the story, though, is that none of us knew this until just before the wedding. I saw Nick get out of the car at the rehearsal dinner and was thinking “WHY DO YOU LOOK SO FAMILIAR!” They had figured it out a couple days before then and were dying to tell me. There was even a photo that I took of them when they first started dating in a scrapbook at the wedding. So, Emma + Nick were officially the first couple I had ever photographed, and here they are again 8 years later.
Congrats you guys! <3
Kelly & Paul
Kelly & Paul were married earlier this summer at the school where they met. Not where they went to school, but where they both teach. How cool is it that they were able to hold their wedding there, too?! Kelly is super talented and crafted everything you see here, from the invites to all of the paper flowers. My favorite part of the day was when Paul got on stage and performed a song for Kelly, it was too sweet. I’m not a cryer, nor would I ever admit to crying anyway, but I may have teared up just a tad during this part of the evening. :-p
Congrats you two!
Abigail & Tom
Abigail & Tom were married earlier this summer at the awesome Overbrook House in Bourne. These two crafted every inch of this wedding, from the flower crown to desserts – awesome job guys! They currently live in the UK, where Tom is from, which explains some of the fun elements of their day. One of my favorites was the “Trans-atlantic bake-off”, where they each had a classic wedding cake and treats from their respective home turf. I’m pretty sure the US won though, I mean, we have brownies soooo…
A huge thank you to Mandy over at Hummingbird Bridal & Events for crushing every last event-coordination detail for everyone as per usual. Congratulations Abigail & Tom!
Katie & Amar
Katie & Amar were married earlier this year at Mass MoCA. One of my favorite places to shoot! There are always a lot of crazy exhibits to play with, like a neon room with a giant stuffed sub sandwich. There’s nothing quite like the misty/foggy Berkshires in the spring, and driving the Mohawk Trail out to North Adams is something I highly recommend.
Katie & Amar, congratulations!
Cynthia & Jon
Happy Thursday! I took the month of July off to hike Vermont’s Long Trail, and got back last week. The blog fell a little behind while I focused on delivering images to my clients before I left. I am happy to be back to blogging some of my late spring/early summer weddings!
Cynthia & Jon got married earlier this year at Vermont’s West Mountain Inn. This space has become one of my favorite places to work, and I’m really excited to get back there in just a couple weeks! Cynthia & Jon’s wedding had so many unique elements that I loved. Jon is Swiss, and his family members incorporated some Swiss elements into the ceremony, complete with an Alphorn! In my years shooting weddings there were a lot of things I’d never seen before happening at this one. It was very cool!
Congrats to Cynthia & Jon!
Julianne & Chase
Happy Summer everyone! Julianne & Chase were married earlier this spring at The Sinclair in Cambridge. These two and their families were such a joy to work with! A special thank you to Margaret Cally for coordinating the day so perfectly, and Caroline at Wild Folk Studio for creating the magical florals for Julianne & Chase to enjoy. Congrats you two!
Liz & Zach
Liz & Zach were married earlier this spring at the Metropolitan Waterworks Museum in Chestnut Hill. They had such a beautiful day with perfect weather and amazing post-rain clouds at sunset. Also, have you ever been to a wedding where the couple had a lip-sync battle? I didn’t think so!
A special thank you to the always incredible Mandy over at Hummingbird Bridal and Events for coordinating such an perfect day for everyone!
Congratulations Liz & Zach!
