Allie & Steve, Married!

Allie and Steve were married at the Royal Sonesta in Cambridge. You might remember them from their engagement session over a year and a half ago. They were my very first engagement session and didn’t even have a wedding date at that point. I was so excited when Allie contacted me earlier in the year to photograph their wedding! Congrats to you both and I hope you’re having a fantastic time in Italy!

Caitlin & Ira married at Willowdale Estate

Caitlin and Ira are so much fun. They were married last weekend at the Willowdale Estate in Topsfield, which is a really fun wedding venue! I loved working with these two. My favorite part about them is the way Ira’s whole body language changes when Caitlin is around. He is truly smitten with her all the time, and it’s so fun to watch. I don’t remember what it was about their ceremony that made me cry, but it did. I also loved that they exchanged vows before the ceremony privately (well, I was there!). I asked Ira if they were going to read them again at the ceremony and he said nope, these are personal & just for us – I LOVE THAT. We might steal it. 🙂

I hope the two of you are having a great time at Mt. Washington with your new puppy, Charlie!

Angela & Ashley - A Boston Public Garden Elopement

Angela contacted me just a few short days before their visit to Boston. They were planning a trip to Boston from Indianapolis and decided to elope while they were here! Of course I jumped at the opportunity because I love spontaneity *so* much, and I could stand a weekday afternoon away from my computer. After the quick ceremony in the Public Garden, we headed over the the Other Side for a celebratory pint. Not familiar with Boston, Angela and Ashley were relying on me to find them the perfect spot to celebrate with a beer. I recommended 3 places, two I had only been a couple times and then the Other Side which is one of my favorite bars in Boston! They picked the good one, obviously. Angela and Ashley are having a larger reception in September in their home town.

Elena & Steve, engaged!

Before I bounce off for a few days for some much needed mid-season, pre-wedding r & r, I have these two lovelies for you! Elena and Steve are getting married next year, and their pup, Banzai, played a big role in the proposal. Let’s just say it involved Yappy Hour at the Liberty Hotel and some awesome Russian translations on Steve’s part. We wandered around their neighborhood on a beautiful summer evening in Boston. Banzai is one of the more hilarious dogs I have met. At one point I was in the dark hallway photographing everyone when Banzai realized that I was there and flipped out, turned around and ran towards me for kisses. So cute.

Aimee & Gabe at the Harvard Club of Boston

I had the hardest time narrowing down for this post! Aimee & Gabe were married at the Harvard Club of Boston in Post Office Square. Their wedding was *so* much fun and they have such great friends and family, I could not have felt more welcome. They met working together and they chose to hold their wedding at the Harvard Club for a special reason. During an office party that was held at the Harvard Club, Gabe stole Aimee away and told her he loved her for the first time! I was in tears during that part of the toast, so cute! Thank you so much, Aimee and Gabe, for including me in your celebration!

Lilah & Joe - Married at the Sugar Hill House, New Hampshire

Today I have Lilah and Joe’s wedding to share with you. They were married just north of Franconia Notch which was so beautiful! I had never traveled up there even though I was born and raised in Maine, and have been living in New England practically my whole life. One of the best parts of photography is all the neat places that I get to see. I always get questions when I have a bride in a dress by this designer, so I will go right out and let you know that the designer is Wai Ching and she makes some seriously gorgeous and fun wedding gowns. The couple incorporated traditions from their Quaker and Chinese backgrounds into the ceremony, there was lots of beautiful singing and even a tea ceremony! They also brought their new pup, Maya, along!

Miami

About a month or so ago, I took a few days off mid-week to visit some family I had not seen in years. It was a gift trip to myself to celebrate going full-time. I hadn’t visited this part of my family since before my mother passed away, and before I left I was actually a little nervous to hang with them without mum and I have no idea why. We had *the best* time! I’ve already booked tickets to see them again in a couple weeks (It’s SO cheap from Boston!) which will be sort of a “shower/bachelorette party/pre-wedding celebration” (we don’t have a wedding party and therefore I planned my own weekend getaway before our wedding!). Miami has some *sick* trees and awesome graffiti walls. Enjoy!

All images are on Kodak Portra 400.

Emily & Yuyu - Married at the BU Castle

You might remember Emily and Yuyu from their engagement session this spring. Their wedding was so special and I have never felt more part of a celebration than I did here, even though it was not in English! I have no idea why I was laughing when everyone else was laughing, crying when everyone else was crying while not understanding a word. I could pretty much tell what they were saying. This wedding was so simple and sweet, about the marriage that they were entering into and not about wedding “stuff”. They are in China right now celebrating with their families there who were not able to make it to this celebration. Emily’s aunt made her dress (she has a shop in Burlington if anyone needs dress-making!)!

I just want to say something quickly about Emily’s makeup! I fell in love with her artist, Tara, and scheduled a “trial” with her for my own wedding! I had it yesterday and I cannot convey in words how awesome she is! If anyone is looking for a MUA/hair person for their wedding, call Tara. She is amazing, the 4 of us had a ball in the hotel room. (plus, I want to work with her again!)

Julie & Dave are getting married!

Julie and Dave are getting married at Rivermill in October. We almost did their engagement session while whale watching because it is one of their favorite things to do (I love them already!)! When I was talking to them about their engagement session, I discovered that one of their favorite things to do is cook together in their apartment. Because it was about 90 degrees that day, but they wanted to incorporate their favorite activity into their photos, we ate some freshly cut watermelon! Julie and Dave have an awesome spot in the South End, and we walked around their neighborhood a bit after drinks and watermelon. It was a fabulous way to spend an afternoon. We also trekked to the waterfront, one of my favorite spots in Boston.
